WORK EXPERIENCE

Disney Engineering Professional Internship -June through Dec. 2018
Animation Shop, Central Shops, Lake Buena Vista, FL
  • I utilized SolidWorks to create 3D models of animatronic components from legacy engineering prints to reduce manufacturing time and cost.
  • I spearheaded the assembly of a piece of show action equipment. I worked with the design engineering team and vendors for adjustments, alignment, design of additional support items such as brackets and machine guards, and measurements for verification of proper operation.
  • I documented processes for rebuilding motion base actuators and wiring of the bogie for a ride vehicle and put them into an official job plan. I designed and produced a fixture and tooling to perform the work at Central Shops vs. onsite.
  • I built mock-up sets to help Imagineering program the animated figures in context with their surroundings.
  • I designed a quick-reference card for LOTO procedure distributed to 5,000 Cast Members, as well as a QR tagging system for direct access to machine-specific procedures.

Exhibit Tehcnician  - Aug. 2017 through May 2018
Roto Group, LLC
Dublin, Ohio
  • I constructed and tested prototypes for exhibit structures, interactive elements, and activities.
  • I integrated mechanical and technological components into exhibits for final fabrication.
  • I used a plethora of tools and materials on the job, including various plastics and metals that I machined with manual lathes and mills, as well as a CNC mill  and router.

Machine Shop Assistant  -  Aug. 2016 through Dec. 2017
Ohio State University MAE Department
Columbus, Ohio
  • I helped my fellow students fabricate metal and plastic parts for various projects. I strategized operations, machined parts, and I enforced safety procedures.
  • I used the vertical knee mill, band saw, sander, drill press, and die grinder.

Technical Intern - May through Aug. 2016 and May through Aug. 2017
Universal Creative Ride and Show, Beijing and Nintendo Projects
Orlando, Florida
  • I created a design package: calculations, drawings, and a SolidWorks model for a safety mechanism.
    • The following year, I developed hazard analysis, FMEA, and an installation plan for the same mechanism.
  • I also conducted a design review for the above mechanism to compare two possible options.
  • I planned and performed a test for forces on an existing ride.
  • I performed various tasks in support of a new ride vehicle.
  • I participated in mock-ups for safety and play testing for design.

Star Tours Agent (Attractions Cast Member ) - Jan. through July 2015
Disney College Program
Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida
  • I worked on a team to deliver excellent guest service and uphold the show at all times.
  • My responsibilities included greeting guests, checking that smaller travelers met the height requirement, accepting FastPass Plus reservations, creating return times for guests with the Disability Access Service, operating and monitoring the ride systems, and collecting and organizing flight glasses.
  • Through the Disney College Program, I also took advantage of special events and networking opportunities.
I am a passionate, determined, futuristic thinker with a knack for the technical and the creative. I thrive when working with others, and I believe that the best products come from diverse teams.  I have fallen in love with the themed entertainment industry and the power to create lasting memories for guests.
