Projects at Central Shops

From June-December 2018, I worked as a Professional Intern with Engineering Services at Central Shops at Walt Disney World. I specifically worked in the Animation Shop, but I also provided assistance to the Assembly Shop, Weld Shop, and Safety. Central Shops is the hub for manufacturing and refurbishment, servicing not only the resort in Florida, but also taking on projects from Imagineering and the other parks around the world.

A few key projects involved modeling the trunks of the entire cast of Jungle Cruise Elephants in SolidWorks, so that they may be re-made much easier and faster on the next refurbishment cycle, as well as modeling various parts for Tiki Birds and Splash Mountain characters. I documented the process of rebuilding the vehicle actuators for the Time Rovers from the Dinosaur attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom. I also created additional tools for the Assembly and Hydraulic Shops to more efficiently support the team out in the park. I also managed the assembly of a large piece of equipment for a new ride and some of the animated figures for Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.
